Birds - If you are a birder, then Africa or the Galapagos are for you. About 12% of the world's bird population reside in Kenya. In Africa, the size of the birds range from the largest bird in the world, Ostrich (8 feet tall, about 200+ lbs.) to the Pygmy Kingfisher or Little Bee-eater, (4-6 inches). One of the prettiest birds I have ever photographed it the Lilac-Breasted Roller - their bodies are streaked like a rainbow and I have photographed them in Africa and India. Then there is the birds of the Galapagos - so many - it is hard to choose what to photograph. Two of my favorites from the Galapagos is the male Frigit Bird with their red chest out while they are trying to attract a mate and the Blue-Footed Boobie Many different species of birds mate for life and another of my favorites is the Black Browed Albatross that mate for life. I photographed them in the Falkland Islands.
Penguins - While in the Antarctic, I was over whelmed by the volume of penguins and photographed 8 different types. The Rockhopper was the smallest and so adorable with their red eyes, yellow eye brows and pink feet. Both the Chinstrap - appropriately named for the black strap that goes under their chin - and the Adelie are pure black and white and beautiful in their own right. The most magnificent penguin that I photographed was the King Penguin - very regal with the black, silver and white looking tuxedo and golden colors on their neck, side of their head and beak. They stand about 37 inches tall.
